Pre-flop

Why it matters

Why every player should know their equity

Equity is the number behind every profitable call, raise and fold. A poker odds calculator turns 'I think I'm ahead' into an exact percentage.

Turn 'I think I'm ahead' into a number

Every poker decision comes down to equity — your share of the pot if the hand ran to showdown right now. A poker odds calculator settles it exactly: put in the hands and the board and it tells you who's ahead and by how much. Pair it with the pot odds calculator and calling or folding stops being a guess.

See why the classics are what they are

Aces versus kings preflop is about 82% to 18%. A pair against two overcards is close to a coin flip. A flush draw on the flop has roughly 35% by the river. Running the spots yourself is the fastest way to build the intuition that lets you estimate equity at the table, where you can't open a calculator.

FAQ

Poker odds calculator — common questions

What is a poker odds calculator?

A tool that works out each hand's equity — its share of the pot at showdown — for a given set of hole cards and board. It answers 'who's ahead, and by how much?' exactly.

What does equity mean?

Equity is the percentage of the pot a hand would win on average if the hand were played to the river many times. It combines your outright wins with your share of any ties.

Are the numbers exact?

On the flop, turn and river the calculator enumerates every possible runout, so the numbers are exact. Preflop there are too many combinations, so it runs a 120,000-hand Monte Carlo simulation accurate to about ±0.2%.

How many players can I compare?

From two up to six hands at once, so you can model heads-up spots or a multiway all-in.

Does it work for Omaha?

This calculator is for Texas Hold'em. Omaha uses different hand rules (exactly two of your four cards), so use our dedicated Omaha odds calculator for that.

Do I need to sign up?

No. It runs entirely in your browser, free, with no account and no ads.
