Why it matters

Make the math automatic

Knowing the poker math slowly is almost useless — you need it instantly. This quiz drills the numbers until they're a reflex.

The math has to be instant, not looked-up

Pot odds, outs, equity, MDF — at the table you get seconds, not a calculator. The only way those numbers become automatic is reps, and this quiz is built for exactly that: a fast stream of real poker-math questions, each with the answer explained, so the arithmetic that decides your calls and folds turns into a reflex. Pick a level and drill until the numbers just appear.

From basic counting to GTO thresholds

The Basic level drills outs and the rule of 2 and 4; Intermediate adds pot odds, equity and set-mining odds; Advanced covers minimum defense frequency, bluff break-evens and EV. It's a ladder — start where you are and climb. Learn the concepts in depth with the pot odds, outs and MDF tools, then come here to lock them in.

Avoid these

4 poker-math mistakes to avoid

Guessing outs instead of counting them

Fix Count the exact cards that make you the winner — nine for a flush draw, eight for an open-ender. Approximating the count throws off every downstream number.

Mixing up the rule of 2 and the rule of 4

Fix Multiply outs by 2 for one card to come, by 4 for two. Using ×4 when only the river is left doubles your real equity in your head.

Confusing pot odds with equity

Fix Pot odds are the price the pot offers; equity is your chance to win. You call when your equity beats the price — keep the two straight.

Treating a hot streak as skill

Fix Getting a run of questions right is reps paying off, not proof you're done — keep drilling until the answers are instant under pressure.

FAQ

Poker math quiz — common questions

What does the poker math quiz cover?

Outs, the rule of 2 and 4, pot odds, the equity a price needs, set-mining odds, minimum defense frequency, bluff break-evens (alpha) and expected value — the core numbers that decide calls, folds and bluffs.

What are the levels?

Basic drills outs and the rule of 2 and 4; Intermediate adds pot odds, equity and flop probabilities; Advanced covers MDF, alpha and EV. Pick Mixed to draw from all three.

Is it free?

Yes — completely free, no signup. It runs in your browser, keeps your best streak on your device, and every answer is explained so a wrong guess still teaches you.

How does it help my real game?

Speed. Knowing that 9 outs is ~35% by the river or that a half-pot bet demands 25% equity only helps if it's instant. Repetition turns the arithmetic into a reflex you can use in real time at the table.

Are the answers exact?

Yes. Every question is hand-picked so the answer is unambiguous, using exact probabilities and the standard rules of thumb (with the rule of 2 and 4 noted as the table-side shortcut).
